Here are a few commonly asked questions about our accommodation and our region. Feel free to contact us if you have any specific queries regarding your stay.

Do you allow pets?

Our policy is strictly no pets under any circumstances. Assistance dogs may be considered but documentation will be required and additional charges will apply.

Are there any good restaurants nearby?

We do have some restaurants in the immediate area.  Kettering Café, Oyster Cove Inn, Seawall Café and Bruny Island Gateway Café in Kettering, the Woodbridge Village Store and Peppermint Bay in nearby Woodbridge, The Beach House restaurant in Blackmans Bay and Panko Chan, Robbie Brown’s and Salty Dog in Kingston Beach.  All of the restaurants and cafés mentioned should be contacted to ensure you get a table when you need one.

Can I cancel my reservation?

Yes, you can but please ensure that you are familiar with our cancellation policy which you can read by clicking here. If you cancel within 30 days of your arrival date due to restrictions as outlined in our Cancellation Policy we will not refund you but issue you with a voucher to be used within 18 months of the date of issue.

How far in advance should I book?

The pandemic has changed everything but when it comes to making any form of reservation for your holiday we strongly suggest that you ensure you can obtain a hire car before you make any other reservations including flights. As far as booking our cottage is concerned we recommend as far in advance as possible.

Can we entertain visitors during our stay?

Yes, you can entertain up to four visitors at a time during your stay. Please be aware that noise levels must not impact on our neighbours and that you are responsible for your visitors behaviour. Visitors are not permitted to stay overnight.

Are there supermarkets in Kettering?

The are a couple of shops in Kettering including a fruit & veggie store in Oyster Cove. The nearest full service supermarket is in the Baxter’s IGA in Snug (5 minutes from Kettering). Kingston has several larger supermarkets including Coles and Woolworths. The IGA in Snug will do home deliveries on request. You can order online: https://baxtersigasnug.com.au

Are there good walking tracks nearby?

Yes, we are really fortunate to have a number of walking trails ranging from easy to more challenging. There is an online resource called Greater Hobart Trails with good details and maps available of walks open to the public, no entry pass required – highly recommended. Of course, National Parks have some great attractions, available details of which can be found by clicking here. You will need to purchase a Parks Entry Pass (available online) to access the walks in National Parks.

Is there much to do in Kettering?

Kettering has a very popular and busy marina and is also the home port for the Bruny Island ferry as well as professional fishing companies. There aren’t many attractions in the township itself apart from Nutpatch (one of Tassie’s best chocolatiers) and the Hunnigton Distillery, makers of some interesting gins and whisky. There’s a very pleasant short and easy walking track from the end of Ferry Road to Trial Bay. Further afield there are the lovely white sand beaches and walking tracks of Coningham, Snug Falls and the hidden delights of the Channel region. Of course, Bruny beckons you as does the Huon Valley and Far South region, all easily reached and enjoyed as day trips.

What time is check-in?

Checkin is from 2:00pm on the day of arrival and check-out is at 10:00am on the day of departure. Unfortunately we are unable to offer early checkins or late checkouts.
